Although Thunderhawk Performance developed our patent-pending double-shear radius rod mount to strengthen the frame and rear suspension for performance use, this Thunderhawk design is also the key to building the strongest RZR XP 900 rear receiver hitch. The Thunderhawk rear receiver hitch replaces the original radius rod stiffener plate and features multiple frame mounting points (at top and bottom) to securely, and permanently, mount the hitch directly to the frame without relying on the four radius rod bolts for mounting. By mounting the hitch to the frame in this fashion, towing loads are transferred directly to the frame for superior strength.
The Thunderhawk rear receiver hitch is constructed using an automotive-grade, reinforced receiver tube for strength, durability and proper fitment with your towing accessories. We've also added double gussets to eliminate deflection of the receiver tube when towing, and twin tow hook points for easy attachment of tow hooks or winch cables when necessary. The tongue weight rating for this hitch is 125 lbs.
This hitch also features Thunderhawk's patent-pending double-shear plate design which strengthens the frame and rear suspension by creating a double-shear radius rod mount which now supports the radius rod bolts on both the front and rear (double-shear). This design doubles the strength of the radius rod mounting bolts and eliminates damaging frame flex that occurs with the stock single-shear radius rod mounts. This is a major benefit when you unhook the trailer and hit the trails.
The Thunderhawk rear receiver hitch features a differential fluid service access hole so that you can easily check and top-off differential fluid without having to remove the hitch. The exclusive Thunderhawk double-shear mounting plate design features frame mounting points that allow you to install a rear bumper without modifying the hitch plate or the bumper for an easy, bolt-on bumper installation. Another nice feature offered by Thunderhawk's double-shear design is the fact that this plate is mounted permanently to the frame making rear suspension work much easier and allowing the radius rods to be removed and re-installed easily. Anyone who has removed their radius rods has discovered what a pain it can be to install the radius rods with the stock set-up. The Thunderhawk rear hitch installs in about 30-45 minutes.
